Paul's presentation of his experiences was very moving, and inspirational. I believe him being here to talk through and being able to ask questions first hand was great.
Paul Mahoney had his left arm severed above the elbow and in a 16 hour operation had it re-attached due to an avoidable incident in a paper mill in November 2000 when a miscommunication and breakdown in procedures took place. He was 27 years old, married with a young daughter.
His story of his life before the accident, the day of the accident, the time spent in hospital and learning about the injuries, operation and new way of life. His struggle with life since his accident is an honest and sometimes graphic account of the devastation the accident has had on Paul, his family, friends and workmates.
Always open about his experience of a work related major accident. This is reflected in a story that is very raw; the emotion in which he delivers his talk is as strong as if it was the day of the accident.
